It helps in preparing cadres who are proficient in the use of computer technology in several applications, such as: Multimedia, Network Administration, Network Security, Web Design, Internet Technology, Internet of Things, Computer Vision, Embedded Systems, Artificial Intelligence, and Bioinformatics.

 Web development, network management, network security, multimedia development, computer vision systems development, embedded systems development, medical systems development, and bioinformatics systems development.

The Department of Information Technology seeks to provide the ingredients for the continuous development of education in the field of information technology to keep pace with the rapid scientific and technological development, improve university performance, raise the department’s graduates to the level of excellence and high competitiveness locally, regionally and globally, carry out distinguished scientific research and studies and maximize the department’s role in environmental service and community development.

Department mission :

The Department of Information Technology is established at the Faculty of Computer and Information Sciences, Mansoura University, in accordance with the faculty’s bylaw, in order to prepare graduates equipped with the assets of specialized scientific knowledge in the field of information technology, while keeping pace with the department’s programs with modern changes. The department also works on using the available capabilities to solve the society problems. This is done by providing distinguished curricula in various branches of information technology and its scientific and applied research subject to international standards, quality and positive interaction for the department's role in environmental service and community development.

Department goals :

• Preparing specialists in the field of information technology and networks and securing those qualified with theoretical foundations and application methodologies to enable them to compete globally in the development of computer and information technologies.
• Conducting scientific and applied studies and research in the field of information technology that have a direct impact on the integrated development of society.
• Providing scientific and technical consultants and assistance to bodies and entities that use information technology and networks and are interested in the components of this technology.
• Rehabilitation of graduates of different colleges according to the needs of the labor market in the modern fields of information technology, networks and multimedia by holding applied diplomas.
• Deepening awareness of the use of information technology in the state's sectors and institutions, and raising the efficiency of its use through specialized professional training courses.
• Participation with the specialized agency for the development and localization of information technology software, networks and various applications.
• Organizing seminars and holding scientific conferences with the aim of deepening concepts and raising the scientific level among specialized cadres.
• Concluding scientific agreements with corresponding bodies and institutions at the local, regional and global levels in order to exchange experiences and conduct research related to information technology disciplines.
